When insurance calls
In an emergency, call 911 first.
First
You can say, "Please send that to me in writing."
What to do
- 1Get the caller's name, phone number and claim number.
- 2You can say, "Please send that to me in writing."
- 3Your own insurance company needs the facts. Tell them what happened. Keep it short and true.
- 4The other driver's insurance works for the other driver. It does not work for you.
- 5Keep a list of every call. Write the date, the name and what was said.
- 6Once you hire us, we deal with the insurance company. You can tell them to call us.
Do not
- Do not let the other side's insurance tape the call.
- Do not guess how hurt you are. Say you are still seeing a doctor.
- Do not sign a form that lets them see all your medical records.
- Do not take a fast check before you know how hurt you are. Once you cash it, the claim may be over.
Reach out to us first. Do this before you talk to the other side's insurance.
