Call 911. Do not chase the other car.
What to do
- 1Call 911 and tell them the other driver left.
- 2Write down what you remember now. Write the plate, the color and kind of car, and which way it went.
- 3Take photos of your car, the road and any paint or parts left behind.
- 4Ask people nearby if they saw it. Get their names and numbers.
- 5Ask stores nearby if a camera caught it. Ask them to save the video.
- 6Call your own insurance soon. Your own plan may help pay when the other driver ran or has none.
- 7See a doctor, even if you feel fine.

- Do not chase the other car.
- Do not wait to call the police. A late report can hurt your claim.
- Do not guess on what you saw. Say what you know.
