Wash the bite with soap and water. Then get it checked.
What to do
- 1Wash the bite with soap and warm water.
- 2See a doctor the same day. Ask if you need a shot.
- 3Get the owner's name, address and phone number.
- 4Ask the owner if the dog has had its rabies shot.
- 5Call animal control and tell them about the bite.
- 6Take photos of the bite, every day, as it heals. Take a photo of where it happened.
- 7Get the names and phone numbers of anyone who saw it.
Do not
- Do not wait to see a doctor. Dog bites get sick fast.
- Do not post about it online.
- Do not sign papers from the dog owner's insurance. Talk to us first.
